How To Turn Your Annual Leave Into Even More Time Off

2019 was a big year for holidays. And while 2020 doesn’t promise the same overlapping of key public holidays, that doesn’t mean the upcoming year is without opportunity for you to maximise your annual leave entitlements. A little bit of planning is all you need to turn those 20 days into upwards of 40 days off! So to help you book in those long weekends away, weekend breaks and even overseas holidays, we’re giving you the heads up on exactly which days to request off.

Not included in the total holidays tally breakdown below are some weekends that are already three days long, such as Queen’s Birthday and Labour Day in some states. The recommendations below use up the full 20 days of annual leave entitlement, but there are plenty of other combination possibilities – especially if you’d like to turn an Easter or Christmas break into an extra-long getaway. Don’t know when your home state’s public holidays and long weekends fall in 2020? Check out our guide here. It also includes the dates of school holiday term breaks. Happy holidaying!
