How To Turn Your Annual Leave Into Even More Time Off

Travel Annual Leave Entitlements Extra Holidays

2019 is a big year for holidays. Thanks to some conveniently close-together public holiday dates, 2019 sees ample opportunity for Australian travellers to more than double their 20 days of annual leave. That’s right, 2019 is the year where you can turn your leave entitlement into upwards of 40 days of holiday time off. In particular, travellers in all states should turn their travel eye to April, when Easter and ANZAC Day dates mean that booking a couple of days of annual leave is all you need to create a potentially whopping 16-day holiday. So to help you book in those long weekends away, weekend breaks and even overseas holidays, we’re giving you the heads up on exactly which days to request off.

Not included in the total holidays tally breakdown below are some weekends that are already three days’ long, such as the Australia Day weekend, the AFL Grand Final celebration in Victoria, or Adelaide Cup in South Australia. Plus workers in some states have a couple of extra days annual leave entitlement to play with; use yours to create another long weekend of your choosing, or extend one of the breaks suggested below. You can also check out our Guide to School Holidays and Long Weekends to find out what other public holidays are around the corner in 2019. Happy holiday planning!
