Most of us loved watching animated Disney films as children and wished we could stay at Ariel's underwater cove. Well now you can (almost)!
Book yourself into high-end Disney-inspired accommodation on your next getaway and you can not only relive your childhood but enjoy fantastic amenities in jaw-droppingly beautiful locations. To get you started, we've listed some of the places you may wish to stay at.
Isla Mujeres
Fans of the classic 1989 Disney movie The Little Mermaid will definitely find a trip to Isla Mujeres in Cancun enables them to get a taste of what life for Ariel and the other mermaids in the film may have been like.
Head to this part of Mexico and you could stay at the stunning Shell House. This self-catering accommodation is said to be one of the most artistically creative houses in the world and, with its distinctive shell-shaped exterior, you can easily imagine yourself to be a mythical sea-dweller! The property's interior is also heavily influenced by the ocean, with corals and shells used in abundance in the decor, while you can take a refreshing dip in the private pool. This activity, of course, will let you pretend that you're Ariel though you are unlikely to be as strong a swimmer as a mermaid!
Elsewhere in Cancun, you could indulge in your love of the icon Disney film by checking into the Isla Mujeres Palace resort. This beautiful all-inclusive resort is an ideal place to soak up some Mexican sunshine and, as you sunbathe, you may want to think what'd it be like to be a mermaid catching a few rays while laid on a rock in the middle of the ocean. Featuring 62 sumptuous rooms, 24-hour room service and an outdoor pool with a swim-up bar, this decadent couples-only hotel is a truly fantastic spot to relax and forget about the stress of life back home.
If you ever decide to head out of the resort to explore (though we wouldn't blame you if you chose not to stray from its confines – it's that luxurious) make sure you visit the El Garrafon National Park. This stunning reserve is famous for its fantastic snorkeling and and diving, while the temple dedicated to the Mayan goddess Ixchel is also well worth exploring.
Glengarriff
Are you a fan of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? If so, you should head to Glengarriff. Situated in the West Cork region of Ireland, this picturesque village offers lots of things for you to see and do but Disney film lovers may be particularly interested in staying in holiday cottages similar to the abode of the famous seven dwarfs.
You probably remember from the movie that Doc, Happy, Bashful and the other dwarves lived in a picturesque little cottage. Well, you can experience such quaint and homely accommodation for yourself should you choose to visit Glengarriff. With the village containing charming holiday homes that have traditional features such as thatched roofs and log fires, you'll relax in utter luxury – though you shouldn't expect Snow White or any other princesses to unexpectedly turn up at your door!
Glengarriff is known as Ireland's Garden Haven and contains some truly breathtaking outdoor spaces. Then there's the Glengarriff Bamboo Park, which contains more than 100 different varieties of bamboo, while the Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve is full of stunning oak trees.
Golf lovers, meanwhile, should head to the nine-hole course near the harbour. As you play you'll get to take in some spectacular sea views.
Glengarriff and Isla Mujeres are just a couple of places where you can enjoy a Disney-esque holiday, but with so many more options to choose from you should easily find somewhere that appeals to you, no matter what your favourite animated film may be!
