The service

Two different service levels are available on the Rocky Mountaineer, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your budget and travel preferences. SilverLeaf Service is the railway’s business class equivalent, while GoldLeaf Service is the first class counterpart, with each offering slightly different inclusions and facilities. Choosing SilverLeaf Service, you’ll travel in a cabin with oversized dome windows, enjoy hot meals served in your seat, and have access to comfortable accommodation on each night that you ride the Rocky Mountaineer. GoldLeaf Service, on the other hand, is accompanied by full dome windows with panoramic views on the upper level, gourmet meals served in a private dining room and an open-air outdoor viewing carriage that makes it easy to enjoy the amazing scenery.

Despite the differences between the two service levels, both are attended to by the Rocky Mountaineer’s friendly train hosts who take the time and effort to ensure that you have everything you need and have the opportunity to know more about what makes the region so special. Beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and gourmet snacks are complimentary throughout the journey for both service levels, while there are certainly no shortage of great views regardless of the service level you choose.

The wildlife

Although you aren’t guaranteed to encounter any wildlife during your journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, there is a good chance that you will spot at least a few species native to North America, from bears, elk and moose through to bald eagles, wild salmon and mountain goats, along the way. The wildlife that calls the region home is diverse, fascinating and nothing short of incredible, making any encounter you may have that little bit more special and exciting. Travelling through national parks and other areas abundant in beautiful scenery, simply looking out the Rocky Mountaineer’s dome windows may be enough for you to spot some native species, while the commentary from your train hosts may also help to ensure that you don’t miss any prime photo opportunities.

The chance to discover locations along your chosen route

The Rocky Mountaineer only travels during daylight hours, meaning that at the end of each day you’ll settle in for the evening at one of the towns and villages scattered along the railway route. Once you arrive at your destination for the night, you’ll check into your accommodation and have some free time to explore the eateries and attractions scattered throughout the town or village. Including a number of popular ski resorts, such as Banff and Whistler, each of the stops along the Rocky Mountaineer’s travel routes offers visitors different things to see and do, adding something new to each day. Take a stroll along the main street, find your next unforgettable meal or simply take a minute or two soak up scale and beauty of your stunning North American surrounds. However you choose to spend your time during your evening stopovers, you’re sure to appreciate the chance to get to know more of this remarkable part of the world.
