To see the city from above, travellers should head to the Campanile. Originally built between 888 and 912, the Campanile is the tallest building in the city.

The best time to visit Venice is during the autumn months of September to November as the city empties out after the busy summer season. The temperatures drop off slightly, averaging between 10 and 23 degrees, but the hotel rates are lower and there is more opportunity to enjoy the city’s famous waterways undisturbed. The period between March and May is also a good time to visit Venice, as temperatures rise and the city begins to thaw out after the winter months.
