Things to do in Vancouver
Vancouver Lookout
Frequent Vancouver tourists would argue that your first stop on any Vancouver sightseeing trip should be the Vancouver Lookout. Reason being that you can get a panoramic 360-degree view of the many splendours of Vancouver from the North Shore to the Olympic Peninsula Mountains and more. All for AUD 18.50 (for adults). Make sure to go on a clear day as clouds can obstruct the magnificent view.
Queen Elizabeth Park
While Stanley Park does get a lot of attention, Queen Elizabeth Park has plenty to offer tourists and nature lovers as well. This park alone attracts about 6 million visitors per year, and with good reason.
The park is home to over 1,500 trees, both native and exotic and 500 different exotic plants that require 3 different climate zones. Not only that but Bloedel Conservatory, located in the park, also features about 120 different species of free flying exotic birds. The park is also the highest point in Vancouver, offering splendid views and photo opportunities.
Yaletown
To find a good place for a drink or nice meal, we can recommend visiting Yaletown. Once it was a warehouse district, but since then it has been transformed into a vibrant late-night hot spot for Vancouver citizens and tourists alike. Yaletown offers bars, hotels, chic boutiques, and so on. There is a wide range of drinking and dining options at various price points, or in other words, there’s something for everyone.
What is the best time to visit Vancouver?
The spring season lasts from March to May in Vancouver, and it’s considered the best time to visit Vancouver if you’d like to catch some good weather for strolls around the city, but still avoid high accommodation prices that tend to peak in the summer.
From June to August the city is full and expensive, as the summer season is the most popular among travellers. And for a good reason – the city has many outdoor activities and special events during the warm season.
On the other hand, winter sport lovers should consider visiting from December to February. The Grouse Mountain slopes are coated with powdery snow at this time!
