Getting around

Toronto is easy to navigate due to the city’s strong grid street layout. Walking is a great way to get around and can be faster than driving through the city traffic. Toronto has a reliable public transport system, the TTC, that is easy to use. Fares are around $3 each way, or you can invest in a prepay PRESTO card that can be topped up in subway stations. Taxis are also available and easy to hail with standard, non-negotiable fares. 

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Toronto is during the summer months (between May and September) when the weather is slightly warmer. There are also many interesting festivals and outdoor events during these months.

Cheap flights are available during the off-season winter months (November to February), however, travellers should be aware that temperatures rarely rise above 0°C in this time.

Located around 28 km northwest of Downtown Toronto, the Toronto Pearson International Airport is the main international airport serving Toronto. Named after former Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lester B. Pearson, the airport is the largest and busiest in Canada. Flights make their way to Toronto Pearson International Airport from a number of destinations, including Dublin, Brussels, London and New York.
