Go to Crows Nest National Park. It's home to walking trails, cascading waterfalls and a beautiful lookout point over the Valley of the Diamonds. There's also a campground if you want to extend your visit and spend a day or two in the Aussie wilderness.

Getting Around Toowoomba

The cheapest way to get around Toowoomba is with the local bus service. Six routes run through the city from Monday to Friday.

If you're in a rush to get to your next destination, take a taxi. Two cab companies operate in the city and have reasonable metered fares. While you can hail a driver down from the street, you'll save time by calling ahead to book your ride.

There are also car rental companies at the airport and in the CBD.

When is The Best Time to Visit Toowoomba?

The best time to visit Toowoomba depends on what you want to do.

The city sees the highest number of tourists during the summer months. From December to February, local travellers head to Toowoomba for the end of year holidays. Book your trip a few months in advance to avoid the spike in hotel rates and airfare prices.

If you want to avoid the crowds, plan your trip during autumn or spring. From March to May and September to November, you'll find fewer people at the top attractions and lower hotel rates. But keep in mind that the city's Festival of Flowers is in September, causing prices to increase once again.

The cheapest time to visit Toowoomba is in winter. From June to August, the cold temperatures keep most visitors away. Hotels and airlines will slash their prices to make up for the seasonal lull.
