Brisbane (BNE) and Sydney (SYD) Airport Information

Departing Brisbane Airport (BNE)

Brisbane Airport (BNE) is one of Queensland's busiest airports. Located only 22km from the Brisbane CBD, it is easily accessed by private car, rideshare, taxi, bus, or train service.

If you’re travelling on a budget from Brisbane to Townsville, or are simply looking for a more affordable transport option, the cheapest way to get to Brisbane Airport is by bus. Routes 569 and 590 run from the Central Business District to the airport every day. If you want a faster option, you can book a direct airport transfer shuttle from your hotel, however, this will be more expensive.

The trip to Brisbane airport from the CBD is quite car-friendly, and only takes around 20-minutes, traffic depending.

At Brisbane Airport, there are a number of parking options available:

Park Long: If you’re planning on leaving your car at the airport for longer than an hour, choose this option. The bays are close to both the domestic terminals and check-in counters

Park Premium: If you wish to pay extra (for a bit of convenience), upgrade your parking to the premium option. Located on level 3 of the P1 Domestic car park, you’ll have exclusive access to express entry and exit ramps.

Park Valet: Another premium parking service offered by the airport for those who don’t want to waste time in the airport carpark. All you need to do is park your car in the valet area and one of the attendants will take care of the rest.

If you’re travelling with checked luggage, we recommend that you arrive at Brisbane Airport at least 60 minutes prior to your flight time.

Arriving at Sydney Airport (SYD)

Sydney Airport (SYD) is the busiest airport in Australia, hosting 3 separate terminals. Flights from Brisbane will lead you to arrive at either Terminal 2 or 3, depending on the airline you flew in on. Each terminal has access to a train station, car park, taxi ranks and bus stops.

If you choose to go by public transport, be aware that public transport in Sydney is cheaper with an Opal card.

The quickest way to get from Sydney Airport to the city is with the train. The trip only takes 13 minutes, with trains leaving every 10 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to midnight 7-days a week.

For travellers on a tight budget, the most affordable way to get into the CBD is with the public bus. Hop on board Route 400; the service stops at the T3 Domestic terminal and fares cost only AUD 5.60 one-way.
If you don't want to use public transport, you can find taxis outside each domestic terminal. A one-way trip costs between AUD 45 -55 and takes 20 minutes to reach the CBD. If you prefer using a rideshare service like Uber, wait for your driver at the priority pick-up area.
