Departing From Perth

Jetstar and Qantas provide the shortest flights from Perth Airport (PER) to Newcastle Airport (NTL). Travel time is around seven hours and includes one stopover in Melbourne (MEL). Jetstar departs from Terminal 3 while Qantas departs from Terminal 4. If you fly from PER to NTL on Tigerair or Virgin Australia, you will depart out of Terminal 2.

Getting to Perth International Airport

To get to Terminal 1 or 2 at Perth Airport from the city centre, hop on bus route 380 from Elizabeth Quay Station. If your flight leaves out of Terminal 3 or 4, Bus route 40 runs from Elizabeth Quay Station to the airport. The $4.80 AUD fare on will get you to correct terminal in about 30 minutes. Black and White or Swan taxi companies provide a 20-minute ride from the city centre for $43 AUD.  Uber and Ola provide airport transfer for $32 AUD.

How to Get from Newcastle Airport to Your Newcastle Hotel or Accommodation

Transfer from Newcastle Airport (NTL) to the city centre should take 25 minutes in light traffic. Taxis are available for hire at the taxi rank located adjacent to the departures end of the terminal. One-way fare should cost $40 AUD. Uber also runs out of Newcastle Airport (NTL) with rates starting at $35 AUD. The cheapest transfer method is on the Hunter Valley Bus. Fare for the 30-minute journey is $4.50. The bus can be reached outside the arrivals hall where you can purchase your ticket directly from the driver.

Newcastle is nestled among some of the best vineyards in Australia. Hunter Valley is home to more than 150 wineries. Take a tour of the vineyard, watch the winemakers at work, and maybe try a sample while you’re there. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb the 180 steps to the top of the Queens Wharf Tower to enjoy panoramic views of the city below. The tower sits 40.3 metres (143 feet) high and is a favoured landmark for tourists. There is no lift available at the tower, so be sure you can handle the climb before committing. If the weather permits, dive into one of the numerous natural pools in New South Wales. Bogey Hole is a local favourite. The public swimming pool also offers spectacular views of the Newcastle coastline. Head to Beaumont Street for your fill of cafes, bookstores, and boutiques.
