Is there ever a bad time to be in Las Vegas? This is a destination offering plenty of travel deals throughout the year, but March to May and September to November are shoulder seasons for tourism. Flying from Sydney Airport (SYD) to Las Vegas Airport (LAS) is a long-haul flight offered by a number of airlines, including United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, Qantas and British Airways. There are currently no direct return flights available from Sydney to Las Vegas, and the fastest one-stop flights take about 17 hours. San Francisco and Los Angeles are common layover destinations.
Getting to Sydney Airport
Take the train from the city and arrive at Sydney Airport (SYD) within 15 minutes. The T8 Airport Line leaves every 10 minutes from the CBD and runs from 5am to midnight. A single ticket is $14.30 AUD. If you are on a tight budget, make use of the local bus service. Route 400 connects the city to the airport and costs only $5.60 AUD per person. Ride-sharing services like Uber and metered taxis are also an option. A taxi from the CBD to the departure terminals should will cost between $45 and $55 AUD and takes upwards of 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Arriving in Las Vegas
Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) is located 14 kilometres from downtown Las Vegas and is where all SYD to LAS flights land. The airport has three terminals. United Airlines operates from T3, and American and Delta Airlines are based out of T1. International airlines are connected via T2.
How to Get from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport to Your Las Vegas Hotel or Accommodation
If you are heading to the Strip from the airport, you can choose from taxis, buses, or ridesharing options such as Uber and Lyft. A taxi ride to a downtown hotel will cost about $20 USD (about $28 AUD). Some taxis don’t accept credit cards so it’s worth checking with your driver. There are three bus services from T1: Route 108 (Paradise), Route 109 (Maryland Parkway) and the Westcliff Airport Express (WAX). The 108 connects to downtown; the 109 runs to a transit centre where additional local connections can be made; the WAX runs express to Tropicana Boulevard in front of the MGM Grand Hotel. The WAX service also stops at T3. Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver or at one of the vending machines inside the airport. Several companies operate shuttle transfers into Las Vegas and these should be booked in advance. Alternatively, you may book a rental car to use during your time in Las Vegas.
