Things to do in Hong Kong

Victoria Peak

Rising 552 metres above the city, Victoria Peak is the highest natural point in Hong Kong. From the top, you can see amazing views of the city’s skyline. In order to get to the top, you can board the Peak Tram funicular in the city centre. This tram will take you to the top of Victoria Peak in just 8 minutes. Try to get a seat on the right side of the tram for the ascent up to Victoria Peak for some amazing views along the way.

Man Mo Temple

This temple is one of the oldest in Hong Kong and is dedicated to the Chinese gods of literature (Man Tai) and war (Mo Tai). The temple was built in 1847 and is located in the city centre surrounded by skyscrapers. The temple was built in a beautiful, traditional manner and is a great example of the fusion of traditional and modern in Hong Kong.

Po Lin Monastery

This monastery is where you can see Hong Kong’s bronze Big Buddha statue. The monastery is made up of some nice gardens and traditional Chinese architecture, making it the perfect place for a quiet walk. Buddhism is a popular religion in Hong Kong, and the monastery is a great place to learn about Buddhism and the monks who have dedicated their lives to it.

This train takes you from Hong Kong Airport to Hong Kong Station in the city. Trains depart from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) every 10 minutes and arrive into the city in just 24 minutes. Tickets for the Airport Express cost $115 HKD (about $20 AUD).

Taxis are available from the Taxi Station outside of Arrivals. You’ll see red, blue, and green taxis. Each go to different areas of Hong Kong. The red taxis will take you from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) into the city centre. Taxis in Hong Kong calculate fare by metres, and a ride from Hong Kong Airport into the city costs about $315-$380 HKD. A taxi will get you to your hotel in the centre in about 25 minutes, so you can get out there and start exploring shortly after your BNE to HKG flight arrives!
