Flight Guide from Sydney to Hobart

Airport Information Between Sydney Airport (SYD) and Hobart Airport (HBA)

Departing from Sydney Airport (SYD)

Sydney Airport (SYD) is Australia’s busiest and largest airport, home to three terminals, international and domestic, as well as a range of amenities such as restaurants, shops, ATMs, free WiFi and VIP lounges.

On a tight schedule? The fastest way to get from Sydney to the airport is with the train. Grab a seat on the T8 Airport Line; it leaves every 10 minutes from the CBD between 5:00 a.m. and midnight. The train only takes only 13 minutes to reach the departure terminals, giving you more than enough time to check-in and make your way through security.

If you're planning a short weekend city break to Hobart, park in either P1 or P2. The spaces are only a short walk to the Domestic Terminals, and you can even book your spot online.

For passengers travelling to Hobart for longer than a few days, the P3 option offers the most value. It has a daily discounted rate and is 8-minutes from the domestic T2 and T3 terminals.

Arriving at Hobart Airport (HBA)

Hobart Airport (HBA) also known as Hobart International Airport is located roughly 22km from Hobart city or a 30 minute drive away.

Commute options include taxi, rideshare, shuttle bus and even car hire. A taxi ride will cost approximately $35 AUD whilst the SkyBus Hobart City Express shuttle bus is a great low cost option with fares starting from $19.50 one way for an adult, and from $39.00 one way for a family of two adults up to four children.

Hobart is a vibrant city with natural beauty as well as a rich cultural heritage. Some of the best things to see and do in Hobart include:

  • Hike Mount Wellington. It's one of the most popular attractions in Hobart and should not be missed. While it will take three hours to summit, you'll be rewarded with one of the most beautiful vistas in Australia.
  • If you're an architect nerd, plan a visit to Battery Point. Built in the 1830s, you'll be able to explore the old colonial-style buildings while wandering past the quaint shops and cafes. Make sure to walk past St George's Anglican Church and Arthur Circus.
