Tigerair flies directly to Hobart International Airport (HBA) from Gold Coast International (OOO). Flights from OOL to HBA last slightly less than three hours. Flights with Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and Qantas may include a stopover in Sydney (SYD) or Melbourne (MEL) and can take up to eight hours of travel time.

Getting to Gold Coast International Airport

Gold Coast International (OOL), formerly known as Coolangatta Airport, is 27 kilometres from the city centre. The cheapest way to get to OOL from the CBD is via the 777 bus. You can pick up the 777 bus at Broadbeach South Station, Stop B or any of the 11 stops along the route. Total transit time from Broadbeach to OOL is approximately 29 minutes and will cost $9.20 per one-way ticket. The SkyBus Gold Coast Airport Shuttle operates seven days a week from Tweed Heads to Main Beach. It runs to some of the Gold Coast’s most popular locations. If you’d rather take a taxi to the airport, fares will run between $50 and $60. Uber is also available.

Gold Coast International is unique in that it only has one terminal. This makes parking at the airport quite convenient. Before you depart for OOL, decide which parking option is best for you as some require pre-booking.

Where to Park at Gold Coast International Airport

Car parks at Gold Coast are designed to put you as close to the terminal as possible. And with 3 car parks to choose, there's an option to fit every budget. Premium Covered Parking: This is the space that is closest to the terminal, and parks here must be pre-booked. Once parked, you can walk path directly to the terminal. The daily rate is $45. Long Term: Located only a 2-minute walk away from the terminal. Rates are calculated based on the length of your stay, and spaces can be booked online. Pre-booking your spot is recommended, with rates starting at $150 AUD per week. Budget Parking: The cheapest car park option at Gold Coast International. This uncovered parking is a 5- to 10-minute walk to the terminal while covered parking is a 4 to 8-minute walk. One week of uncovered parking in the Budget lot starts from $98 AUD, while a week of covered parking starts at $139 AUD.

 

Arriving in Hobart

Your descent into Hobart International will bring you down the Coal River Valley or over the Frederick Henry Bay and Seven Mile Beach. Depending on the time of day you land, you can see spectacular views of either sight. HBA is equipped with car rental kiosks.

 

How to Get from Hobart International Airport to Your Hobart Hotel or Accommodation

Hobart International Airport is located 17 kilometres northeast of the city centre. The cheapest mode of transportation to CBD hotels is the route 750 bus. The 20-minute ride from HBA to the CBD will cost only $4 to $6. The SkyBus is located just outside baggage claim and can get you to the CBD in 15 minutes. A one-way fare is $18.50. The taxi queue is also located outside the baggage claim area. Fares will vary, but should be between $50 to $65. Uber runs out of HBA with fares starting at $31.
