Public Transport and How to Get Around
One of the best ways to get around the city is with a bike. Gold Coast has more than 600 kilometres of bike paths that connect to public transport routes and various neighbourhoods. The city has a bike share program, making it an affordable way to explore and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. There are more than 30 bike stations around Gold Coast, and you can download the Mobike App for up to date prices and a location map.
The city's buses aren't the fastest way to get around. You'll need to factor in buffer time for delays, and it's not the best option if you're trying to stick to a tight schedule. TransLink is the main bus operator, and Surfside Buslines will connect you to the south and north of the Gold Coast. If you're staying out late, you can take the after-midnight bus that's run by NightLink.
Once your flights to Gold Coast land at the airport, the best way to get to your hotel is with a taxi. The Gold Coast Cabs are easy to spot outside the arrivals terminal and also operate all over the city. A one-way trip from Gold Coast Airport (OOL) to Surfers Paradise will cost $55. Another alternative is the ride-sharing app, Uber.
If you want more freedom getting around Gold Coast or you have a few day trips planned while travelling on flights to Gold Coast, it's best to hire a car. You can book one ahead of time on Webjet, rent one from Gold Coast Airport (OOL) or pick up a set of wheels at one of the kiosks in the city.
SkyBus Gold Coast Airport Shuttle
The Gold Coast Airport shuttle meets all flights to Gold Coast landing at the airport and operates seven days a week. It's one of the most affordable transportation options from Gold Coast Airport (OOL) and runs between Tweed Heads and Main Beach.
