To experience the best of Dublin’s colours and weather, head to the Irish capital during the spring. From March through May, you can explore Dublin with fewer crowds to contend with. If you’re planning a trip from MEL to DUB in the summer months of June through August, expect to pay a bit more for flights and hotels. The lush green landscapes combined with excellent festivals and temperate weather draw large crowds. Temperatures can drop to nearly 4°C (40°F) in the autumn months of September through November. Pack a jacket if you want to take part in the art and theatre festivals across the city. Winter temperatures often drop to -1°C (30°F). With the prevalent rainfall and snow, Dublin can be quite brisk between December through February. But don’t let the winter blues drive you away. Travelling in winter is the best time to score cheap airfares from Melbourne to Dublin. Just be sure to pack plenty of layers and a heavy winter coat.

This former Viking fortress was built in 930 AD and is now home to the Chester Beatty Library. Looking for the dark tales?
