Melbourne (MEL) and Canberra (CBR) Airport Information

Departing Melbourne Airport (MEL)

Melbourne Airport (MEL) (also known as Tullamarine Airport) is one of Australia’s busiest airports. The airport has 4 terminals, 3 of which are domestic, serving different airlines.

  • If you're flying with Qantas, your flight will depart from Terminal 1.
  • Virgin Australia flights leave from Terminal 3.
  • Jetstar and Tigerair flights to Perth depart from Terminal 4.

All three terminals have restaurants, bars, shops, lounges and free WiFi available for all passengers.

Looking to head to Melbourne Airport from the city? Take the public bus; routes 478, 479, 482 and 901 all run past the transport hub by Terminal 4.

If you're catching a red-eye flight, take the 24-hour SkyBus. It departs from the CBD every 10 minutes and costs only AUD 10 for a one-way trip.

Taxis and ridesharing services can drop you off along the T4 Transport Hub zone or along Departure Drive. A single trip fare costs AUD 55 - 65 depending on traffic.

Arriving at Canberra Airport (CBR)

Once you’ve arrived at Canberra Airport (CBR), it’s a quick walk toward luggage collection. Canberra Airport only has one terminal; after disembarking your aircraft, continue towards arrivals gate A or B.

The most affordable way to get from the airport to the city is with the public bus. Routes 11 and 11A run from the CBD to the terminals 7-days a week. A one-way trip costs AUD 4.80, and you can buy your ticket on board.

If you're short on time, the quickest way to get from the airport to your hotel is with a taxi. A single trip into the CBD usually costs AUD 48-54 depending on traffic.

Ride-sharing services are also available at Canberra Airport. Meet your driver at the Express Pick-up car park. It's located on the ground floor of the IndoorPark, 20 meters from the arrivals hall. There's also a dedicated passenger lounge so that you can wait for your ride in comfort.
