With Cairns Airport (CNS) being Queensland’s 3rd busiest airport, behind Brisbane and the Gold Coast, it is advised that you arrive at the airport at least an hour before your scheduled departure time. All fights from Cairns to Brisbane depart from the domestic terminal, Terminal 2. You’ll find free WiFi, restaurants, shops and ATMs in the departure lounge, making it easy to kill time if needed.

Arriving at Brisbane Airport (BNE)

As the capital city of Queensland, Brisbane Airport (BNE) is one of Queensland’s busiest airports. When you arrive, you’ll enter the terminal on Level 1, where you’ll find the baggage carousels, bathrooms and cash machines.

Located only 22km from the Brisbane CBD, it takes only 20-minutes to get to the CBD, and trains depart every 15 minutes from 5:04 a.m. to 10:04 p.m. every day.

Looking to travel Brisbane on a budget? Take the TransLink bus; you’ll be able to get into Brisbane’s city centre via either the 569 or 590 route. To take a taxi or uber from Brisbane Airport to your accommodation, head to the taxi rank out the front of the domestic terminal. The trip from the airport to the CBD is quite car-friendly and will only take roughly 20 minutes depending on traffic.
