Birmingham has many beautiful parks and green spaces perfect for an afternoon stroll. Check out Cannon Hill Park, Lickey Hills Country Park and the astonishing Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses. It’s also a little-known fact that Birmingham has more miles of canals than Venice, and a tour by canal boat is a unique way to see the city. Take a canal tour around through the Gas Street Basin, out towards Birmingham’s suburbs, or into Dudley’s limestone caves, just half an hour away from the city centre.
Birmingham is a large city best navigated on foot or by public transport. It is a far-reaching city with lots of outer suburbs, but the city centre itself is small enough to walk around. If you want to head a little further out of the city, buses operate from a number of stops in the city and are a cheap and reliable way of getting around.
