Much like travelling from any other airport in the world, the time it takes to journey from AMS to Amsterdam's city centre depends on traffic. In good conditions, this transit trip can take just 15 to 20 minutes' drive. Find taxis outside the Arrivals entrance, or at the train station level. The airport is also linked with a train service, and this journey to Amsterdam Centraal Station also takes about 20 minutes. The train fare is 5.40€ ($9 AUD), with trains departing every 10 to 15 minutes from 6am until 1am. 

Things to do in Amsterdam

One of the best ways to get around Amsterdam is taking your cues from locals and getting onto a bike. Amsterdam is an exceptionally bike-friendly city, so much so that cyclists often have right of way in traffic.
