Locals head to the gardens to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Take a guided tour or show yourself around the immense display of flora and fauna from around the world. Mount Lofty is a well-known site in the Adelaide Hills, located a 20-minute drive from the city CBD. There is a hike leading to the summit, or you drive yourself to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding valleys. To climb the mountain, start at Waterfall Gully and make your way up. Many people encounter kangaroos on the way to the top. For some retail therapy, head to Rundle Mall. This pedestrian street mall is home to big name brands as well as local popups. Refuel with a local coffee or meal at the many restaurants within the mall.
