The Rainforest World Music Festival is a unique event that brings renowned musicians from around the world together with indigenous musicians from the interiors of Borneo. Now in its 17th edition, the event showcases Sarawak’s conservation efforts in preserving its rainforests through world music. It attracts tourists from countries such as Australia, US, UK, Singapore, India, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Canada, Norway, France and Japan.

Each year the Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Calendar. The Festival is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Moon Cake Festival, traditionally it marked the end of the harvest season. Malaysian Chinese celebrate this festival by gathering at home with family, pray, and eat mooncakes, all while children are exultant with their latest lantern designs. Shopping centres and landmarks in the city like in Petaling Street are decorated with thousands of colourful lit lanterns, while a range of other activities all add to the festive atmosphere.
