Transportation to and from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport (MEL)

Melbourne AirportMelbourne Airport utilises a series of linked tollways, known as CityLink, for which a pass needs to be purchased. The Tullamarine Freeway is connected to the CityLink tollway. The tollways are are clearly marked with blue and yellow tollway signs. More information on obtaining a CityLink pass can be obtained from the CityLink website.If you are planning on renting a car, be sure to discuss the CityLink options with your rental company.

Travellers can choose to travel toll-free to Melbourne Airport by using the Western Ring Road.

Short and Long Term Airport Parking

Melbourne Airport has five car parks, all of which operate 24 hours a day, every day.

The short term car park is under cover, and only a short 3 minute walk to the Melbourne Airport terminal precinct.

The multi-level long term car park is also under cover, and is also a short walk to the Melbourne Airport terminal building.

The long term car park is 400 metres south of Melbourne Airport and is not undercover. A courtesy bus is provided which takes approximately 3 minutes. A ‘Shine Express’ car wash available.

The Business car park is under cover, and can be found at the north end of the Terminal precinct, T1. It is roughly a 50 metre walk to the terminal from the carpark.

The Express car park is under cover, and is located adjacent to T3 and T4, only a few minutes walk from the terminal.

Tullamarine Airport Taxis

Taxi ranks can be found outside all terminals at Melbourne Airport. A return fare will cost you in the vicinity of A$80.00 between Melbourne Airport and the CBD. There is also a parking fee of A$2.00 per vehicle, that applies to passengers leaving Melbourne Airport via taxi. If you have arranged for a pre-booked taxi, or a limousine from the Premium Parking area opposite T2, the fee is A$3.00.

Shuttle Buses from Melbourne Airport to the City

Skybus is a shuttle bus service operating between Melbourne Airport and the Melbourne CBD and city hotels. The service runs 24 hours a day, with schedules running 10-15 minutes through the day, and every 30-60 minutes overnight.

The Skybus Hotel Shuttle operates during the day, from 0600 through to 2200, Monday to Friday, and 0730-1830 on weekends. For further information visit the Skybus website.

Public Buses at Tullamarine Airport

Melbourne Airport Trains

At present, connections between Melbourne Airport and the railway network is made with coach and airport buses. A direct train link to the airport is under discussion, but will not eventuate for many years.
