Devonport Airport (DPO)
Devoport Airport is owned and managed by Tasmanian Ports Corporation Pty Ltd. Tasmanian Ports Corporation Pty Ltd or Tasports is a privatised body entirely owned by the Tasmanian Government. The airport is located 10km east from Devonport town centre on Wesley Vale and Airport Roads. This is an accessible 3.5-hour drive from Hobart on the A1 Midlands Highway. The two-runway airport resides at about a 10-metre elevation from sea level. It is also Australia’s 40th busiest airport in terms of revenue passengers.
QantasLink operates four flights daily to Devonport from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport with further connections to Australian airports. Qantas Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyer members also have the opportunity to indulge in the exclusive Qantas Lounge before their departure. International flyers should be well planned and prepared for onward flights before arriving at Devonport, as only domestic ticketing facilities are available.
Visitors arriving can efficiently collect checked in baggage from the Arrivals Hall and find a kiosk, magazine and souvenir store that carry tourist information brochures. From there, there is a range of services for continuing travel into town. Car rental counters for Europcar, Economy Car Rentals, Thrift, Budget, Avis and Hertz can be found in the Arrivals Hall. Taxis will cost approximately $25 for the 10 minute drive into city or you can pre-book your taxi with Taxi Combined on 03 6424 1431.
NorthWest Shuttles offers shuttle buses on demand to and from the airport as well as from the ferry terminal to Devonport city. Tickets for the shuttle are $15 per person from the airport and $10 to transfer to the ferry. The ferry terminal houses the Spirit of Tasmania ferries, travelling to and from Melbourne in 11 hours. Paid secure car parking for long and short-term stays is also available at the airport.
