Albury Airport (ABX)
Albury Airport is New South Wales’s third-busiest regional airport, and is about five kilometres north-east of Albury’s CBD. It is owned and run by Albury City Council.
Transportation
Leaving the airport is easy, with car hire at the terminal building available from operators including Europcar, Avis and Budget Rent a Car. Taxis depart from outside the terminal, and shuttle buses are available through Border Shuttle Bus, with booking ahead necessary. The airport is open from 6 am to 9 pm. Within the airport there is free wi fi and the historic Uiver Cafe and Bar, dedicated to local residents’ efforts to rescue a plane in the London to Melbourne air race and its travellers when it made an emergency landing in the city in 1934.
Albury Attractions
The city of Albury features attractions such as the Albury Art Gallery, Albury Botanic Gardens and Monument Hill, which includes the local war memorial and sweeping views of Albury and its sister city Wodonga (across the state border in Victoria). Albury enjoys a warm/temperate climate, with four separate seasons. January has average maximum and average minimum temperatures of 31. and 15.5 degrees Celsius, and 13.0 and 2.7 in July.
Airline Services
The busiest route from Albury Airport is to Sydney, which is served by Rex, QantasLink and Virgin Australia. There are also Melbourne and Canberra routes, travelled by Rex and Brindabella Airlines.
