Qantas Frequent Flyer - Easy Sign Up!
Joining the Qantas Frequent flyer program couldn't be easier - just fill in an online form found on Qantas' website and pay by credit card. Members may enroll, monitor accounts and book awards online. A "points calculator" lets members find out the number of points needed for various awards.
If you are a resident of Australia or New Zealand, you must pay a one-off joining fee and then start earning points for every mile that you fly. Accounts remain active so long as there is some activity on the account, at least once every three years.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards
The Qantas Frequent Flyer system returns measurable rewards. The large number of partners for earning and redemption means that members can easily earn their way through the system. The elite program is therefore not unduly exclusive. As a Frequent Flyer member, you will earn one point per mile (or 1.609km) for travel on eligible full economy flights with Qantas, oneworld alliance airlines and partner airlines, but the total number of points depends not only on how far you travel but your cabin class and membership status. Flights with Qantas and partner airlines on eligible flights earn Status Credits, which accumulate to allow progression from the basic Bronze Frequent Flyer, to Silver Status, Gold Status and Platinum Status.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Silver Status
Silver status is attained with 350 credits. Benefits include a 25-percent earning bonus, one complimentary invitation to Qantas Club, priority check-in, an extra 10kg or one piece of baggage allowed, priority telephone reservation service, and membership luggage tags.
Car Rental Earns Frequent Flyer Miles
Avis car hire and Budget rental car are the exclusive partners for car rental offering points for the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program will get special rates with Avis and Budget and will also earn frequent flyer points. As of the 19th of November 2010 Thrifty and Hertz will no longer be a part of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold Status
Gold status is yours when you reach 700 credits and includes all the benefits of Silver, along with a 50-percent earning bonus, complimentary Qantas Club membership, priority baggage handling, and "on-departure" upgrades from most classes.
Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum Status
Platinum level requires 1,400 credits to qualify and includes a 100-percent earning bonus, complimentary Gold membership for a partner (if you earn 2,100 credits in a year), an expanded baggage allowance, first class baggage tags on international flights, and guaranteed economy-class booking.
Qantas is one of the few programs that awards lifetime status to its most frequent flyers. Members who earn 7,000 or 14,000 Status Credits will earn lifetime Silver or Gold status, respectively.
