Overview

Malindo Air is a Malaysian airline, with its main hubs located at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Subang Skypark. The airline first took to the skies in 2013, beginning with popular Malaysian domestic routes and then branching out to international services. Malindo Air services operate throughout Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Singapore, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan, covering a network of almost 40 routes. The airline recently launched flights to Sydney, the fifth city in Malindo Air’s Australian flight route repertoire.

International Flights

Passengers on international flights Malindo Air may check-in between three and one hours before their scheduled flight time. The check-in kiosks close 75 minutes before departure time, and check-in counters close 60 minutes before departure time.

 

Domestic Flights

Check-in for Malindo Air’s domestic services is available between three and one hours before the flight is scheduled to depart. However, passengers on flights departing from Subang Skypark Airport should note that check-in for this airport closes 30 minutes prior to departure.

 

Malindo Air Online Check-In

Travellers looking to avoid queues at the airport can check-in for their flights online. Online check-in is from 48 hours before the scheduled departure and closes four hours ahead of departure. Departures from Taipei, Sanya, Wuhan, Singapore and India cannot use the web check-in service.

 

Baggage

Carry-On Baggage

Malindo Air allows Economy Class passengers one piece of carry-on baggage and one laptop bag or one handbag. The main cabin bag must weigh less than 7kg. Business Class passengers are permitted two pieces of carry-on baggage and one laptop bag or a handbag on board. The main carry-on bag must not exceed 10kg. Carry-on luggage for passengers in either cabin class must adhere to dimension specifics.

 

Checked Baggage Allowance

Malindo Air’s checked baggage allowance varies depending on the aircraft and flight route.

 

Boeing Aircraft

Travellers flying aboard Boeing aircraft Boeing aircraft are permitted a checked bag of between 20 and 40kgs, depending on ticket type (either Value, Flexi or Business). Those travelling on a Super Saver fare do not have checked baggage allowance included in their ticket. There are some variations according to destination, and pre-purchase or additional baggage can also be purchased. Countries typically serviced by Malindo Air’s Boeing aircraft include Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

ATR Aircraft

Passengers on flights serviced by ATR aircraft have an allowance of 30kg for Economy Flexi passengers, 30kg for Shuttle fares and 20kg for Economy Value travellers. Travellers who have purchased a Super Saver fare do not have included checked baggage allowance. The destinations serviced by Malindo Air’s ATR aircraft are Malaysia and Indonesia.

 

Malindo Miles

The Malindo Air loyalty program, Malindo Miles, has three membership tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum. Membership is free and travellers earn points by purchasing flights and shopping with Malindo Miles partners. Points can also be earned through friends and family, simply by adding your nearest and dearest as a nominee to your account. Malindo Miles can be used to redeem flights, and Gold and Platinum members can also use their points to secure additional baggage allowance.

 

Lounges

Malindo Air Executive Lounge

Malindo Air’s Executive Lounge is located at the main terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2). It provides free WiFi, light refreshments and shower facilities, as well as free computer use and a comfortable lounge area. The lounge is available to access by Business Class passengers, Malindo Miles Platinum members and Malindo Corporate Gold members, and may be accessed for a fee by Economy passengers.

 

In-Flight Experience

In-Flight Entertainment

Malindo Air’s in-flight entertainment varies between aircraft and route destinations. The entertainment offering changes bi-monthly and features a mix of new Hollywood releases and other films, as well as select episodes and full seasons of TV shows. There is a mix of Western and international options. Audiobooks, podcasts and games are also available. Forgot to bring your own earphones on-board the flight? Malindo Air’s Comfy Kits (blanket and earphones) can be purchased after the flight takes off.

 

Dining

The inclusion of meals and dining services on Malindo Air flights is determined by cabin class and flight duration. All flights, however, are provided with water, and a range of snacks and additional beverages can be purchased on-board. Extra snacks, drinks and hot meals can also be pre-ordered. Economy Class passengers aboard a Boeing aircraft, on an international service with a flight time of more than 3 hours, receive a free in-flight meal. Business Class passengers receive free snacks if their flight time is less than one hour. Those travellers aboard an ATR aircraft can purchase any snacks or beverages. Some of the Malindo Air in-flight meals that can be purchased at an additional cost include dishes such as fusilli pasta with chicken piccata, Singapore fried noodles, Nasi Lemak, and masala thosai with idli and sambar. The range of snacks available to buy includes marble cake, banana muffins, juice, mushroom sandwiches, vegetarian pizza and spaghetti with meatballs. Plus, travellers requiring special dietary requirements can also place their order at least 24 hours before flight departure. Malindo Air caters to those needing diabetic, kosher, low-fat and low-calorie, vegetarian Jain, lactose-free, and more. Special meal requests can only be made for complimentary meals.

 

Cabin Class

Economy Class

Malindo Air Economy Class has reclining leather seats and pitch of 32 inches. Complimentary meals are only provided to Economy Class passengers on international routes with a flight duration of more than 3 hours.

 

Business Class

Malindo Air Business Class seats are fully leather upholstered and have 45 inches of legroom. All Business Class seats have generous recline, as well as built-in power supply sockets, USB ports and free WiFi connectivity. Those travelling in Malindo Air Business Class also receive an extra 10kg baggage allowance. Additional benefits of Malindo Air Business Class include exclusive check-in privileges and in-flight meals.
