Jetstar, owned and operated by the Qantas Group, is a low-cost airline offering great-value flights and service without all the extras. Offering both domestic and international services, Jetstar operates more than 5,000 flights every week to 85 locations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. Jetstar (JQ) international flights on Boeing 787 aircraft

The check-in for international flights operated on Boeing 787 aircraft opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Jetstar (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK) international flights on A320 and A321 aircraft

Check-in counters for JQ and GK international services on A320 and A321 aircrafts open 3 hours before departure and close 45 minutes prior to the flight taking off. For GK flights departing from Shanghai Airport, check-in closes 50 minutes ahead of the scheduled departure time.

Jetstar Asia (3K) flights

Passengers travelling on 3K flights may check-in between 2 hours and 45 minutes before departure. For 3K flights departing from Ho Chi Minh (SGN) and Da Nang (DAD), check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 50 minutes prior to departure.

Jetstar Pacific (BL) international flights

Passengers on BL international flight routes may check-in between 3 hours and 50 minutes before departure. For BL flights departing from Bangkok (BKK), Chiang Mai (CNX), Hong Kong (HKG), Singapore (SIN), and Taipei (TPE), check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled flight time. For flights departing from Guangzhou (CAN), check-in is available 3 hours to 60 minutes before departure.

Domestic Flights

Jetstar (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights departing from domestic terminals

Jetstar's airport check-in and bag drop opens 2 hours prior to departure for JQ and GK flights, and closes 30 minutes before departure. Check-in opens at 6am for early morning GK flights departing Naha and Fukuoka Airports.

Jetstar (JQ) Q3000 New Zealand domestic flights

Check-in and bag drop open 90 minutes ahead of departure for JQ flights and closes 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight time.

Jetstar Pacific (BL) domestic flights

Passengers travelling on BL domestic flights may check-in between 2 hours to 40 minutes before departure.

Domestic flights departing from an international terminal

Passengers travelling on domestic flights departing from an international terminal may check-in 3 hours prior to departure. Check-in counters close 60 minutes before departure on Boeing 787 aircraft, and 45 minutes for A320 and A321 aircraft.

Baggage

Carry-On Baggage

Jetstar Starter, Starter Plus and Starter Max passengers may carry one main item and one small item, with a combined weight of 7kg, or 10kg with a +3kg top-up purchase. Jetstar Flex bundle passengers may carry one main item and one small item, with a combined weight of 10kg. Jetstar Business Class passengers may carry two main items, each weighing 7kg or less, and 1 small item, with a combined weight of 14kg.

Carry-on baggage must fit in the overhead lockers and be no bigger than 56 cm (height) x 36 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth). The small item must fit under the seat in front of you.

Carry-on baggage on regional New Zealand Q300 aircraft must be no bigger than 48 cm (height) x 34 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth). If your baggage is larger than these dimensions but within the size restrictions of the aircraft, your bag will be checked in at no charge. This must be presented at the counter when you check-in.

Checked Baggage

Jetstar's Economy Starter fares and Economy Starter fares with a Flex bundle do not include a checked baggage allowance as standard. Checked baggage can, however, be purchased as an added extra. Passengers may choose from 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg and 40kg allowances.

Passengers who have purchased an Economy Starter fare with a Plus bundle receive a checked baggage allowance of 20kg (10kg for Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights). An additional 20kg can be purchased (30kg for Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights) for a fee.

Passengers who have purchased an Economy Starter fare with a Max bundle, or a Business fare with a Max bundle receive a checked baggage allowance of 30kg. An additional 10kg checked baggage allowance can also be purchased for a fee.

No single bag can weigh more than 32kg. If you have a checked baggage allowance of 35kg or 40kg, the weight must be split over a minimum of two bags. There is no limit to how many bags can be checked-in, as long as these bags do not exceed the combined weight of your allowance.

Loyalty Programs

Jetstar does not have its own loyalty program. However, it does have partnership agreements with Qantas Frequent Flyer, Emirates Skywards, JAL Mileage Bank and Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles. Passengers who belong to these respective loyalty programs can enter their membership details when booking flights on Jetstar's Plus, Max or Business Max bundles and accrue points or miles. When you purchase any of these bundles, simply select the loyalty program from the list and fill in your membership number.

In-Flight Experience

Entertainment

In-flight entertainment is available to passengers travelling on Jetstar international flights when serviced by 787 Dreamliners. This offering includes a wide selection of new releases and classic films, TV shows, games, music and podcasts. There are options to suit both adults and children. Business Class passengers receive complimentary in-flight entertainment, while Economy passengers may pre-purchase in-flight entertainment prior to their flight's departure.

Dining

Jetstar serves a variety of in-flight meals, with menus varying depending on flight length, aircraft model and destination. Snacks are available for purchase on short flights, and passengers on long-haul international flights have the option of two in-flight meal services. In-flight meals and snacks are not included in Starter fares but can be pre-purchased on selected flights or bought during the flight. Most fare bundles include food and drinks, in-flight vouchers or an in-flight meal deal.

Meals can be purchased on-board all Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK) international flights, however it is recommended to pre-purchase to ensure you receive the meal of your choice. The menus change depending on flight route, however some of the meals available to Jetstar passengers include pasta salad with chicken and pesto, butter chicken with rice and peas, nasi lemak, and spinach lasagne. Beverages, from soft drinks and coffee to beers and wine, can also be purchased on select flights.

Jetstar's Business Class in-flight dining experience includes continental breakfasts, three-course lunches and dinners, and gourmet snacks. Business Class passengers can choose from a selection of Western, Asian and vegetarian meals that have been prepared using ingredients local to that flight's destination. The in-flight dining menu for Business Class passengers changes depending on destination, however some of the dishes you may be able to choose from include pan-fried dory fillet, white chocolate and caramel cheesecake, braised wushi pork, and buttermilk pancakes with mixed berry compote.

Business Class

Jetstar's Business Class offering includes priority boarding with a dedicated check-in area, 30kg of checked baggage, free in-flight entertainment, a comfort pack with headphones, and included meals with selected wines. Passengers may choose to enhance their Business Class fare with the Business Max bundle, which provides airport lounge access (where available), reward points and no change fees. Business Class passengers may also purchase an additional 10kg of checked baggage, taking the total baggage allowance to 40kg.
