Airport check-in
If you choose to check-in at the airport ahead of your Etihad Airways flight, you may do so at a check-in desk or using one of the airline’s airport kiosks. Check-in closure times do vary between departure airports and flight duration. It’s important to check your boarding pass and booking information to find the correct check-in closure time for your flight.
Online check-in
Online check-in opens 30 hours before your Etihad Airways flight. When you’ve checked in, you can simply head to our ‘Bag drop for online check-in desk’ at the airport. You can use the same you've saved by checking in online to shop, dine or unwind.
Baggage
Etihad Airways offers several baggage options.
Checked Baggage
The amount you pay for extra baggage depends on where you are flying to and from. For some destinations, extra baggage is charged per kilogram, and for other destinations it is charged per bag.
You can enjoy a discount when you buy extra baggage while booking your ticket, or save 30% if you book up to six hours before you fly.
Cabin Baggage
With our hand baggage only fares, you can carry one cabin bag weighing up to 7kg. Your bag can be up to 56cm wide, 36cm high and 23cm deep.
If your cabin baggage exceeds our maximum weight or dimension limits, you will be asked to check your bags in. Excess baggage charges will apply.

A family room also provides children of all ages with their own world of fun and entertainment in a colourful and engaging setting.
Etihad Premium Lounges are located in Terminal 3 close to gate 35 and in Terminal 1 beside the Al Reem lounge after you clear security.
Etihad Airways First & Business Class Lounge at Melbourne Airport
Etihad Airways has opened its spectacular new Premium Lounge at Melbourne Airport, offering guests a stylish, comfortable environment in which they can relax, re-energise, dine, work or be entertained pre-flight.
A natural light filled space with floor-to-ceiling glass, it offers expansive views across the runway. At more than 800m2 with seating capacity for up to 133 guests, it is the airline’s largest Premium Lounge outside Abu Dhabi.
A centrepiece of the new lounge is the intimate 26-seat dining area. Here guests will enjoy the airline’s signature hospitality with restaurant-style a la carte dining and an international buffet.
The kitchen prides itself on making everything in-house. Professional chefs prepare each dish on site using the freshest, locally sourced, seasonal produce. Another striking feature is the sculptural showcase bar, here guests can enjoy a selection of refreshments.
Custom furnishings – by Boss – offer lounge guests a choice of seating styles, each designed for maximum comfort while dining, working and relaxing. High-speed Wi-Fi connectivity is complimentary and multi-zone electric and USB power outlets are conveniently located throughout the lounge.
Guests in The Residence, First Apartments and Business Studios will be invited to visit the lounge pre-flight. Platinum, Gold and Silver members of Etihad Guest and eligible members of Etihad Airways Partners and partner airline loyalty programs will also be able to use the lounge when travelling in Economy Class. Guests must be booked on an Etihad Airways-operated flight on the same day.
Located in Terminal 2 adjacent to gate 10, the lounge will open approximately three hours prior to the departure of Etihad Airways twice daily Melbourne-Abu Dhabi flights.

In-flight Entertainment
Audio-Video-on-Demand (AVOD) is available in all travel classes in Etihad Airways. Enjoy a 10.4 inch touch-screen LCD monitor in the back of each seat in Coral Economy and laptop power supply with the USB port. Audio-Visual-On-Demand (AVOD) offers over 500 hours of entertainment and a comprehensive audio library consisting of over 250 CDs with 10 more added every month. Enjoy 70 films, over 40 hours of television programming, 13 audio channels and 29 games. The unit also offers an audio player to create a personal audio play list and video favourite's option to create a personal video play list. All guests are provided with noise-cancelling headphones and are able to access the in-flight entertainment system and telephone facility through the handset located on the armrest of each seat.

Diamond First Class
The spacious surroundings and luxurious seating and dining in Etihad Airways Diamond First Class are as elegant as anything on the ground. Individual cabins are arranged into 4-abreast seating 1-2-1 with each seat pitch at 6 feet 8 inches, which transforms into a 180 degree flat bed. A six-way movement headrest and footrest will ensure a relaxing journey. The seats feature pneumatic lumbar support with built-in massage facility, a personal reading light and desk lamp, as well as mini-bar, coat hanger and personal stowage. Diamond First Class guests may also socialise in the dedicated First Class lounge located at the front of the aircraft, complete with bar and seating area. Etihad's new in-flight service 'Inspired Service' allows guests the flexibility to choose when to eat and drink, from a new menu featuring both a-la-carte and kitchen choices. Pearl Business Class
The Pearl Business Class self-contained, spacious seat transforms into a 6 feet 1 inch, 180 degree flat bed. Offering an 88 inch seat pitch and direct aisle access for all guests and a built-in massage facility, the Pearl seat is pure comfort. The well equipped seating provides individual lighting and reading lamp, coat hanger and personal stowage to ensure your journey is all the more comfortable. Like every other aspect of travelling in Pearl Business Class, dining is a refined experience. Coral Economy Class
With its ergonomic design, the Coral Economy Class seats recline 30 degrees and offers a seat pitch between 31-33 inches giving you more space and comfort. Seats have a wide seat bottom that moves forward when reclined and an adjustable footrest and headrest allowing you to really relax. Experience in-flight mood lighting that creates a relaxed ambience inside the cabin to compliment your mental and physical wellbeing.
