Overview
Air Niugini is the national airline of Papua New Guinea, operating a number of domestic and international services, allowing travellers to explore the best of this captivating Pacific nation and beyond. Air Niugini’s maiden flight took off in 1973 and its fleet grew quickly throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Today, Air Niugini offers flights to destinations around Papua New Guinea, as well as from and to Australia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Fiji, Singapore, and North America.

International Flights
Passengers travelling internationally with Air Niugini should check-in at least three hours before the scheduled departure time.
Domestic Flights
For domestic flights within Papua New Guinea, passengers should check-in at least two hours prior to the departure time.
Air Niugini Online Check-In
Travellers wanting to save time at the airport may choose to use Air Niugini’s online check-in service before they leave home. This service is available 24 hours before scheduled departure, up until three hours prior. Online check-in is not available for passengers departing from Australia and Japan.
Baggage
International Flights
For international services, the Air Niugini baggage allowance is quite generous. Economy Class passengers are permitted an allowance of 23kg per person, and Business Class passengers are offered a maximum of 30kg per person. All passengers may also carry up to 7kg of cabin baggage per person.
Domestic Flights
For services within Papua New Guinea, the Air Niugini baggage allowance for Economy Class is 16kg per person. Those travelling in Business Class receive 20kg, and Executive Club Members received 25 and 29kg respectively. Passengers are also permitted 7kg of carry on cabin baggage.
Scuba divers
Papua New Guinea is a destination renowned for its fantastic scuba diving, and Air Niugini offers special baggage allowance for divers. Those travelling internationally or domestically with Air Niugini receive an additional allowance of 15kg per person.
Destinations Loyalty Program
Air Niugini operates the Destinations Loyalty Program. Members can earn Air Niugini points, receive free upgrades, and more. The program has three levels: Destinations Loyalty, which is free to join; Destinations Loyalty + Silver Executive Club, which incurs a fee of PGK 1,599.00 per year; and Destinations Loyalty + Gold Executive Club, which costs PGK 2,299.00 per year to join. The perks vary across tiers, covering priority check-in, additional baggage allowance, domestic lounge access and free access to some international lounges. Air Niugini does offer a fourth membership: Destinations Minor (cost of PGK 1,000.00) for frequent travellers aged between 12 and 17 years.
Lounges
Domestic Lounges
Travellers with Destinations Loyalty + Silver Executive Club or Destinations Loyalty + Gold Executive Club membership may access the Air Niugini domestic lounges throughout various PNG airports, including Port Moresby, Lae, Wewak and Madang. Passengers travelling in Business Class also have access to the Air Niugini Paradise Lounge. Passengers travelling with some of Air Niugini’s codeshare partners, such as Qantas Business Class passengers or members of Qantas Chairman’s Lounge, are also permitted lounge access.
International Lounges
Air Niugini does not currently have any dedicated international airport lounges. However, Air Niugini does have partnership agreements allowing some travellers (Business Class passengers and Destinations Loyalty + Silver Executive Club or Destinations Loyalty + Gold Executive Club members) access to certain international lounges. Those lounges include Cathay Pacific Lounge in Cairns, the Qantas Lounge in Brisbane and Sydney, the Tabua Lounge in Nadi, Premier Lounge in Denpasar, and Plaza Premium Lounge in Hong Kong, among a handful of other destinations.

Air Niugini In-flight Entertainment
Air Niugini’s in-flight entertainment, including films, music and more, is available for select flight routes. In-flight entertainment is not standard on some domestic services, but is a feature of most Air Niugini long-haul international services.
Dining
Special meals catering to a variety of dietary and religious requirements are available on request for passengers travelling internationally. A number of special meals are available, from Halal and Kosher options to gluten free, low sodium and vegetarian dishes. Meals must be requested from Air Niuguni at least 24 hour prior to departure, with Kosher meals needing to be requested 48 hours in advance. Cabin Class
Economy Class
Air Niugini’s Economy Class is clean, modern and offers all the essentials needed for domestic and international travel. Complimentary meals and drinks are included in the Economy Class fare, and personal screens for in-flight entertainment are available on longer international routes.
Business Class
Air Niugini Business Class comes with wide leather seats and premium dining options.
