Virgin Blueâs Fleet of Aircraft

Virgin Blue and its international carriers Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue currently operate a fleet of 61 next generation Boeing 737 and Embraer E170 and E190 E-Jet aircraft flying to 23 Australian and eight international destinations including New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and the Cook islands.

Virgin Blue’s Embraer 190 flights go the distance

The Embraer 190 jets, configured with 104 seats in a two class layout, Premium Economy and Economy, are the first of this model in the world to operate with ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations) certification. ETOPS certification allows aircraft to safely fly non-stop routes over large uninhabited areas.

The Embraer 170 jets are configured with 78 seats, also with a two class layout of Premium Economy and Economy class seating.

Virgin Blue’s trusty fleet of 737 aircraft

Since its inception, Virgin Blue’s fleet has relied on Boeing’s 737. Boeing’s most recent offering, the 737-800 aircraft offers Virgin Blue passengers 12 Premium Economy seats in red leather trim and 180 Standard Economy class seats, while the 737-700 offers 12 Premium Economy seats, and 144 Standard Economy.

Introducing V Australia – LA to Sydney in 777 comfort

The Virgin Blue Group has also launched V Australia, which will commence flights between Sydney and Los Angeles in December 2008, subject to regulatory approvals. V Australia will operate B777-300 aircraft.

Virgin Blue’s Premium Economy – for business and holidays

Virgin Blue is confident that their Premium Economy product will meet the needs of both leisure and business travellers. It is not only a matter of extra personal space, but priority check-in at major airports, complementary access to The Lounge in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane, extra baggage allowance up to 32 kgs, in addition to the fare being fully flexible and refundable up to 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure. The Premium Economy seating is not available on Pacific Blue domestic or international flights.

Blue Zone Seating for a great Virgin Blue flight

Another further seating option is to pay an additional $30 per one way sector to reserve a Blue Zone seat, where passengers enjoy the equivalent of a 39 inch seat pitch – a little bit extra that can make all the difference. Blue Zone seats are subject to availability and safety regulations.
