Webjet today released an industry leading Trans Tasman air fare "Mix and Match" booking facility.

Commenting Webjet Marketing Manager Dean Maidment, said:

Our new Trans Tasman fare matrix, which is an Australian first, enables our customers to easily select one way fares to and from New Zealand, combining different airlines and fare classes in the one booking and pay for them in a single credit card entry.

Because Webjet's sophisticated technology integrates fares from multiple airline systems and websites, our customers can now even more easily compare, combine and book airfares from leading airlines, including Pacific Blue, Qantas, Emirates, Air New Zealand and Jetstar. This level of flexibility and choice is perfect for either leisure travelers, searching for the best available prices or business travelers looking for the best value airfares that suit their work schedule.

Since we commenced our soft launch earlier this week, we have seen fantastic customer take up with over 40% of our bookings to New Zealand combining 2 different airlines. This extremely encouraging level of acceptance coupled with the fact that we will soon reduce our Trans Tasman advance booking time from 7 days to 1 day, gives us every confidence that we can rapidly grow our Trans Tasman airfare market share.

When you consider that Sydney to Auckland is the most traveled international city pair out of Australia and that 4 of the top ten traveled International city pairs are between Australia and New Zealand, a total of over 3.1 million passengers in the year ended Nov 05 (1) , the Trans Tasman market represents exciting growth opportunities for Webjet.

Over the coming weeks we will commence our extensive consumer marketing initiatives including Trans Tasman specific television commercials, internet marketing campaigns, web site advertising and plasma screen promotions throughout shopping centres across the Australian east coast.

Webjet's ASX code is WEB
